Feb 19, 2011 · So today I drug out my old Transmission Cooler Hoses and cut the collar off of one. As it turns out 5/16" Oil Cooler Hose would have worked fine and I would not have had a problem finding some. Also by just replacing the Hose I would have saved 1/2 of the cost or more off the cost of both Hoses both hoses not just $6. It's a basic single-flared metal line/compression fitting set-up. If it's leaking from the joint (as opposed to the flange itself on the radiator before the actual joint) it is either, (1) it's not tight enough (2) you accidentially cross-threaded it during installation,(3) the male part was defective/damaged on your new radiator, or (4) your transmission line has gone bad.

What is the trick from removing the cooler lines from the transmission on my 2000 k1500? I know how to disconnect the lines. I just don't know how to reach the clip on the lower connection on the transmission. There just isn't room. I'm not removing the transmission. Any ideas?
